Course description |
The course will explore in historical and contemporary perspective Christian theological approaches to the state and civil society. Attention will be devoted to classical formulations, to Reformation and early modern disputes, to theological appraisals of political liberalism and the continuing debate in the UK over establishment. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The course will increase the student analytic and evaluative skills in theological thought; foster an awareness of the socio-historical context of doctrinal formulations; promote skills of close textual reading, and enhance ability in literary and oral communication. |
Assessment Information
Students are required to submit an essay of 3,000 words. |
