Course description This module offers the opportunity for study in the workplace environment. While the student is undertaking a period of employment a topic is identified in discussion with a member of academic staff and a draft report on the topic is submitted. The Placement Report is a focused study of a particular aspect of architectural practice, or related activity carried out during the Placement then submitted on return. This module normally follows Architectural Design Placement (working learning).
Aims - The module will:
1. Provide an opportunity to reflect, appraise, analyse and present knowledge and understanding gained through direct experience of a specific aspect of the architectural profession or related activity;
2. Practice researching and investigating a specific topic bearing on the practice of architecture or a related activity;
3. Articulate and illustrate work experience or related activity in a coherent and professional manner;
4. Invite students to gather information $û text and drawings $û relating to the practice of architecture or a related activity and to assemble this into a coherent form.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to demonstrate:
1. Clear objectives for the study, including a summary;
2. Thorough analysis, reflection, familiarity and knowledge of the chosen topic with reference to key texts;
3. Present written work, (including drawings and llustrations) that is objective, lucid, free of significant errors of grammar, punctuation, spelling and typographical errors in a coherent structure and style.
Assessment Information
A 3000 word report or by a combination of drawings and report (100%)
Special Arrangements
This course is taught jointly by the University and Edinburgh College of Art. Students will have access to both campuses and may be located in studios at either institution. This course will be assessed in accordance with the Assessment Regulations of Edinburgh College
