Course description This course, together with Chemistry Year in Europe Level 10 (alongside which it must always be taken), constitutes full-year full-time study at an approved university in Europe (excluding UK). The two courses are optional Year 4 curriculum for students on the degree programmes Chemistry with a Year Abroad, or Chemistry with Environmental Chemistry and a Year Abroad, or Chemistry with Materials Chemistry and a Year Abroad. Students spend a full academic year studying at their chosen university and undertake an extended research project on a topic agreed with their host supervisor. Taught courses may also be attended and may be chosen from those available at the university at an appropriate level and relevance to students' interests and degree programme. Assessment consists of marks for a written report of the project and aspects of the performance on the project. Students undertaking the year in Europe are normally expected to attend and pass appropriate language courses during their first two years of study at the University of Edinburgh.
