Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The primary objectives of the course are:
- to present and review the application of statistical and stochastic modelling techniques;
- to present the fundamentals of deterministic hydrological modelling, and to consider their application through case studies;
- to introduce the basic concepts of flood hydrology, and to consider approaches suitable to data-scarce situations;
- to present analytical/numerical approaches to the solution of groundwater flow problems;
- to review approaches to wellfield design and consider regional groundwater flow modelling
- to present approaches to water resources planning based on risk assessment;
- to introduce the application of linear and dynamic programming techniques in water resources.
