This course aims to ensure that the candidate is able to assess, understand and manage surgical emergencies and children with traumatic injuries.
This course also aims to ensure that the candidate is understands the principles and practice of anaesthesia, and ventilation. This programme should ensure that practitioners are able to use procedural sedation, and local/regional anaesthesia safely

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| At the completion of the course the student should be able to diagnose, assess and manage paediatric surgical emergencies, and traumatic injuries. The student should have an understanding the relevant anatomy and pathophysiology involved. |
Assessment Information
| Formal summative written assessment will constitute 60% of the student's grade. Online assessment will incorporate a variety of activities will constitute 40% of their overall course grade and is taken to represent a formative assessment of learning throughout the programme |
