Course description |
This course has two parts. The first part is concerned with the substantive legal issues associated with software, hardware, the computer industry and the Internet. Particular topics of current interest will be selected for in depth analysis, drawn from areas such as computers and intellectual property rights, electronic contracting, free speech on the Internet and privacy rights in relation to electronic information. The second part of the course deals with how computer technology can support and assist the legal process, lawyers, judges and the public seeking legal advice. Students will emerge with both theoretical knowledge and the practical ability to build a legal knowledge based system. |
