Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The following are the learning objectives for the Honours version, MAT-4-MEd; for this (Ordinary) version there is more emphasis on the technical, rather than conceptual elements, which will be reflected by a different assessment.
It is anticipated that students who successfully complete this course will be able:
1. To critically analyse theories of learning and teaching mathematics, as well as justifications given for teaching mathematics, and the implications of these for the curriculum.
2. To team-teach three mathematics lessons in a local primary school (with support), and analyse these in relation to the more theoretical aspects of the course.
3. With a partner, to carry out a short investigation of a chosen mathematical topic, looking at its wider context and applications, and present the findings to fellow students.
