Course description The course is split into two sections. Clinical Neuropsychology A introduces a range of clinical assessment and rehabilitation methods and is fully taught by Dr Sharon Abrahams. In Clinical Neuropsychology B you will also receive some lectures from invited Clinical Neuropsychologists working in Scotland.

The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to clinical neuropsychology. The student will be introduced to methods of clinical neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation. A range of neuropsychological test procedures will be introduced. The student will also be introduced to the neuropsychological profile of a range of neurological disorders including the dementias, epilepsy, head injury and the assessment and rehabilitation of neuropsychological disorders including both memory and executive dysfunction. During the course you may also be offered the opportunity to sit in on a clinical neuropsychological assessment undertaken by Dr Sharon Abrahams, provided that these are available.

This course will run weeks 1-5 in semester one and weeks 1-6 in semester two.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will gain knowledge of:
- Neuropsychological assessment within a clinical setting
- Neuropsychological presentation of a range of clinical neurological disorders
- Neuropsychological rehabilitation methods used with a range of neurological disorders
- Assessment and rehabilitation of neuropsychological disorders of memory and executive dysfunction
Students will gain experience of neuropsychological tests used within a clinical setting
Assessment Information
You will be given a choice of case scenarios and required to write a report on one of these cases. The case scenarios will be given to you in the last lecture and you will have one week to complete it. Word length: Maximum 1200 words
