Course descriptionThis course specifically examines the place of architecture within the wider context of cultural production and globalisation. It examines a number of strands in contemporary architectural theory that seek to challenge and unsettle various discipline-specific orthodoxies that have informed architecture in the past. In particular, it explores issues of power, the philosophy of technology, the politics of domination, the production of space, history as disjunction, gender issues, discourses of the unconscious, cyberspace, theories of interpretation, and deconstruction as these topics pertain to contemporary architecture.
