Course descriptionPLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS OWNED AND ADMINISTRATED BY HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY AND DELIVERED BY DISTANCE LEARNING STUDENT EFFORT HOURS 150 - course leader S Ogunlana

To provide the student with an opportunity to develop practical capability of applying the concepts and practices of construction project management in a simulated real life project-based scenario. The problems within the case study material will address issues related to the management of construction clients and other project stakeholders and the co-ordination and management of a project from its design stage through production stage of a simulated construction project. The student will need to formulate responses to the practical problems posed in the context of the overarching construction project constraints of time, cost, quality sustainability, health and safety management.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To:
Demonstrate an understanding of construction client and other construction project stakeholders needs, construction project organisational structures, tools and techniques used to manage the process of project production and control within the key project constraints of time, cost and quality
In addition the student will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of TQM approaches to construction project management and issues related to health and safety management through the production of documentation that provides evidence of being able to plan, co-ordinate and manage the processes involved in the production of the built environment.
