Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Display a considered approach to research as it underpins individual practice in visual communication
2. Demonstrate confidence and confidence in handling relevant media to develop visual communication project(s)
3. Show competence and a considered approach to the selection and presentation of work for assessment at this level

Additional Information
Academic description Students will be asked to consider what is meant by visual communication and how this differs from art based projects: this differentiation and the subsequent consideration of audience/client needs to be thoroughly researched along with the background ideas for projects. Students should consider the relationship between what they wish to communicate and the method they choose to do this as well as how their own research ideas fit in to a particular process.
Syllabus Students may choose to undertake this Course in illustration, graphic design, animation or other means of visual communication and will attend relevant classes to support their choice of project. Group crits and tutorials will support studio based work and help develop core skills in research and resolution of ideas.
Transferable skills skills in research and development of ideas; skills in communication of concepts to others; skills in developing self motivated projects as well as in working to a brief; practical skills in numeracy, planning and visual and verbal languages
Reading list reading lists related to individual student projects will be developed
Study Abroad Not entered
Study Pattern Students will undertake 200 hours of study of which 50 will be Contact Hours and 50 Directed study. The remaining 100 hours allow students to undertake self directed study.
