Course descriptionThe aim of the first semester is to develop the basic academic and business writing skills necessary for writing in fluent, idiomatic Japanese. In the second semester, we will prepare for the degree examination by concentrating on more advanced academic writing skills such as summarization techniques and writing techniques for arguing the pros and cons of a given text.A good deal of preparation is necessary to meet the requirements of this course.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The course aims to develop the student's skills in written Japanese to an advanced level in the following areas:
Academic essay writing
Business Japanese including CV writing
Summarizing
presenting a cogent argument
Assessment Information
Word-processed essay in Japanese 25%
3-hour degree examination 75%

This assessment examines 20 credits taken in year 4.
