Course descriptionThe Module involves study of selected texts of literary, linguistic and historical interest from seventeenth- to twentieth-century Scottish Gaelic, together with study of the external history of Gaelic in Scotland and language practical classes both oral and written.

Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed Gaelic 1A (CELT08004) OR Gaelic 1B (CELT08005)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The Module aims to extend students' experience in and understanding of the Scottish Gaelic literature of the last three centuries, to increase their familiarity with, and powers of expression in, Scottish Gaelic, and to provide a detailed introduction to the history of Gaelic Scotland and the Scottish Gaelic language.
Assessment Information
An essay and regular language and translation exercises (50% of final course mark); a final exam (50%).
