Course descriptionThe course will provide students with research and bibliographical skills specific to the discipline of translation studies. The students will learn what counts as a research problem in the discipline, how to formulate a worthwhile topic, and what sort of methodologies are available for them. The course will be the students' crucial preparation for the dissertation stage.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Enabling the students to pursue knowledge and understanding in particular areas of their own interest.
By carrying out descriptive studies on existing translations, the students will have the opportunity to observe and learn from other people's work.
Students will be encouraged to use both the University Library and the databases, and become acquainted with the resources of the National Library of Scotland.

Assessment Information
Assessed by statement of research problem and literature survey of 4,000 words. The statement can later be used in undertaking the dissertation.
