Course description | Topics at the current forefront of research in Palaeobiology will be discussed, including fossil birds and feathered dinosaurs, marine reptiles, life on land, the Rhynie Chert, the relationship between evolution and environment, mass extinctions. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will gain an overview of the most important themes in current Palaeobiology and will be encouraged to synthesise these themes into a broad understanding of evolutionary and ecological theory. The course will be delivered via a series of lectures and a set of suggested reading. |
Assessment Information
One significant report on one of the following themes, evolutionary radiations, macroevolution, the problems of scale in palaeontology, the relationship between organisms and their environment, chance and the fossil record. |
