| Course description | A study of Church, state and society from the first Christian Socialist movement to the First World War. Topics include the growth of religious pluralism, the "Victorian Crisis of Faith", religion and nationalism in Ireland, liberal "Broad Church" theology revivalism and the "social gospel". |

Students who complete this course will be able to:
- understand the larger historical and theological themes of British and Irish religious life during the height of the United Kingdom's world influence;
