Understand a range of different methods in teaching and learning, and develop a range of practical skills of observing and analysing teaching.

Explore potential barriers to learning and ways of overcoming them, in order to meet learners' needs.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
i) to be able to discuss and compare alternative theories of learning, and their relationship to different practices in teaching
ii) to be able to analyse, explain and evaluate some practical examples of teaching and learning
iii) to understand some of the theoretical issues and explanations concerning teaching, and relate them to practice
iv) to consider the relationship between pedagogy, curriculum and assessment, and social context
v) to gain an understanding of some recent developments in teaching and learning.
