Course descriptionPLEASE NOTE THIS INTRODUCTORY COURSE HAS BEEN REPLACED BY ELEMENTARY FRENCH LANGUAGE ELCF07005 (SEMESTER 1) AND ELCF07006 (SEMESTER 2). STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE SIGNED UP ON THIS "INTRODUCTORY" FRENCH LANGUAGE BUT RATHER ON THE "ELEMENTARY" FRENCH LANGUAGE.

Prohibited Combinations Students MUST NOT also be taking Introductory French Language (ELCF07002)
Other requirements A Pass in French at Standard Grade or GCSE or equivalent. Students with a lower level of attainment may be admissible, but should consult the Course Organiser. Students with higher levels of attainment will normally be admitted to level 2, but should take French 1B (FR0076) if they have A level A or B or Higher A or B.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Improved competence in the four main skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing French. This greater competence is intended to lead to greater confidence and to enhance the ability to learn independently.

Assessment Information
Regular coursework including class tests and oral assignments.
Coursework 55%; exam 45%.
Special Arrangements
Priority to enrol will be given as follows
1. Students from the College of Science and Engineering, the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and visiting students.
2. Students from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, but from outwith the School of LLC (Literatures, Languages and Cultures).
3. Students from the School of LLC, but outwith DELC.

No students on programmes owned by DELC will be admitted to these courses.
