Course descriptionLanguage work, written and oral. A general introduction to the history and culture of the Hispanic world, together with the study of appropriate texts and films.

Additional information Three other one-hour classes: one Written Language, one Spoken Language and one Literature tutorial, giving a total of 4 hours classes. These are usually at 11.10am (but some may be at other hours), as arranged by course organizer. Sign-up class lists will be available on WebCT after the first class meeting.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- you will develop your ability to produce accurate and varied spoken and written Spanish
- you will enhance your reading skills through regular reading in Spanish as preparation for classes
- you will be introduced through the study of books and films in Spanish to issues of current active interest in Hispanism with regard to a range of periods and places, from the medieval to the present day and from both Peninsular Spain and Latin America.
Assessment Information
2 literature essays; one literature commentary done in class; 4 written language exercises; 1 oral presentation; 2 class exams. 1 degree exam in May diet. Class work 40%; degree exam 60%.
