Course descriptionThe objective of the course is to improve communicative skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening activities; to give comprehensive cover of Russian grammar with particular emphasis on the study of verb categories; to considerably extend the students' active and passive vocabulary
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Russian Studies 1A (ELCR08005) OR Russian Studies 1B (ELCR08002)
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: The Golden and Silver Ages of Russian Literature (1820-1920s) (ELCR08006)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should be able:
to participate and interact effectively in tutorials in Russian
to demonstrate the ability to produce reasonably accurate written and spoken Russian
to identify, understand and use grammatical structures in Russian, including verbal aspect, participles, gerunds and verbs of motion
to translate from Russian into English with an awareness of the sense the original text, using the target language correctly and appropriately
to demonstrate use of self-study material (dictionaries, grammar books, websites).
