Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By looking at Middle Eastern cinemas as social phonomena, this class will introduce students to the study of cinema as a mode of representation of the social histories of the Middle East on one hand, as well as introducing 'close viewing' methodologies for the study of film on the other. Thus it will serve the interests and academic needs of both students of the culture and history of the modern Middle East as well as Cinema studies and cultural studies students.
