| Course description | This is a course in which fundamental issues of medical jurisprudence are studied at an advanced level. It is intended to be suitable both for students who are new to the study of the subject, as well as for those who may have taken some background at undergraduate level but who wish to explore the issues in greater depth. Topics include the impact of human rights on medical law and ethics, medical negligence, confidentiality, genetics and the law and reproductive medicine. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| By the end of the course, students should be able to demonstrate a critical knowledge and understanding of fundamental issues in medical jurisprudence, a familiarity with the principal literature on the topics covered by the course, and an ability to comment critically and engage in debate on the issues raised. |
