Course descriptionThe aim of this course is to enable students to understand and apply concepts and tools relating to the field of Strategic Management, so that they have the capability for developing a business strategy (business plan) appropriate for any business, both domestic and international, and in such a way as to consider the human resource issues (e.g. recruitment, training and remuneration) relevant to that organisation.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course students will be able to:

1. Describe the key strategic management concepts covered.
2. Critically discuss the application of these concepts
3. Demonstrate they can, using the concepts covered during the course:
a) describe a business scenario
b) critically evaluate this scenario
c) propose a range of appropriate and feasible options which will enable the business to take long-term advantage of the situation.
d) justify the selection of one option over the others.

1 coursework (50%)
1 exam (50%) - 3 questions from 4 (1.5 hours) No resit examination for honours.
