Course descriptionThis Special Topic will provide the students with an in-depth understanding of some of the key epidemiological issues of concern today, including the potential scale of the BSE and vCJD epidemics, the control of foot-and-mouth disease, the prevention of E. coli O157 infections, and the reduction of the public health burden of rabies. Each subject will be introduced by a lecturer doing research in the field, the students will then carry out directed reading and a critical evaluation the available literature. Student presentations will form the basis for general discussion of each subject. Each student will be asked to present on a topic of (as far as possible) their choice.

Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed Medical Microbiology 3 (BIME09002)
