Course descriptionThe course complements other courses on CO2 capture available to MSc students illustrating the role that membranes could play in the separation process. In addition to introducing transport phenomena in membranes and the different materials and properties, a brief overview of the module design will be considered. Several case studies will be illustrated to highlight the correlation between material properties and real applications.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students should:
1) Have an overview of the possible uses of membranes for carbon capture applications.
2) Understand the fundamentals of mass transport in membranes.
3) Be able to model transient diffusion in a membrane.
4) Understand the effect of different materials on the process configurations.
