Course descriptionThe theme of this half course will concern two aspects of management: the organisational behaviour of individuals in the sport and recreation environment; and, the financial management of sporting organisations.

Indicative content will include: theories of organisational behaviour, motivation, and leadership; understanding of perception, and group processes; an introduction to the mangers' role in financial management.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Explain the main processes and systems affecting behaviour in sport and recreation organisations; understand the impact of relationships, personality and attitudes in a sport and recreation organisation; recognise the nature of leadership and power and evaluate theories of leadership; identify relevant information from financial statements for the management accounting of financial resources; understand the managers' role in interpreting financial statements.

Written examination 80% - two hours; including one compulsory question on financial management
