| Course description | The course aims to provide knowledge and laboratory skills in areas of animal sciences with current and immediate relevance. Areas to be covered will be chosen from fields of expertise and international eminence at the Roslin Institute. In 2011-2012, the three areas will be embryology and reproduction, neurodegenerative disease and avian model systems. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, the candidate should have specialised knowledge and experience in their chosen areas of animal biosciences.
The candidate should:
&· be familiar with currently relevant areas of animal biosciences:
&· the biology of neurodegenerative disease;
&· avian biology in health and disease;
&· the principles of animal embryology and reproduction and have experience of relevant laboratory techniques;
&· understand how this knowledge might be used in industry;
&· understand the ethical issues raised by each of the fields studies.
