Course description |
This module introduces and elaborates upon aspects of architectural practice, including the architect/client relationship, professional bodies, current legislation and methods of procurement. The module offers an opportunity or workplace learning as it is undertaken during the placement period, a continuous period of recognised employment (or related activity agreed with the Placement tutor) during which a student undertakes a programme of work experience in an architects office or similar place of work. Students understanding of specified aspects of architectural practice is tested through on-line submissions during the placement period. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to demonstrate using written communication: 1. Awareness of the regulatory and business framework which provides a context for the delivery of architectural design; including the duties and obligations laid down in professional codes of conduct and health and safety legislation in the workplace; 2. Knowledge of the context of practice, the professional groupings in construction, the value of team working, and one's own place within these groupings; 3. An awareness of professionalism, the relationship to the client and the role of the professional bodies.
