Course description |
Project Management is the application of management principles to deliver a project in accordance with predetermined objectives for time, cost & quality. This course will consider these principles in the management of all types project with particular emphasis on engineering projects, with respect to the project's life-cycle, the parties involved, planning, estimating, risk management, contract contract management, and project control. The course will examine the context of these themes through the development of a project exceution plan based on a real project. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- To develop an understanding of the context of projects and the management methods necessary for the successful delivery of these projects.
- To understand the roles of a variety of parties within a project.
- To provide students with a model of a project?s life cycle.
- To increase knowledge and understanding in a range of topics that are important to managing strategic projects successfully.
-To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the integrative nature of project management

Assessment Information
There will be one team assignment worth 50% of the overall assessment (30% report and 20% presentation). The examination counts for the remaining 50%. An element of peer assessment will be included in the coursework marks. |
