Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should be able to:-
&· Understand the need for financial awareness and expertise
&· Understand the purpose of the main areas of financial advice for companies and individuals
&· Demonstrate an understanding of the global economic environment
&· Explain and discuss the various forms of financial services available for clients: deposit-based, fixed interest and equity investments
&· Explain and discuss the various forms of financial services available for clients: collective investment, insurance for protection and life assurance, derivatives
&· Explain and discuss the various forms of financial services available for clients: mortgages
&· Understand loan finance
&· Explain and discuss the various forms of financial services available for clients: pensions
&· Understand the process of giving financial advice to companies and individuals: tax elements
&· Understand the principles a set of company accounts
&· Demonstrate an ability to and practice of tax planning as it relates to private clients
&· FSA
&· Analyze and understand compare sets of accounts by using ratios
&· Demonstrate Professional communication
&· Demonstrate Team working (Investment exercise)
&· Practice file and risk management
&· Undertake Transactional research: the need to complete a full fact-find
&· Understand the Client-Solicitor relationship
&· Understand the Regulatory framework and professional standards, including guidance by the Law Society of Scotland
&· Interviewing
&· Demonstrate Writing and drafting
