| Course description |
This course first introduces the underlying science of human-induced and naturally-occurring climate change, using the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report as its basis. It examines predictive models of climate change and its impacts. It goes on to examine projected impacts globally, regionally and, using the UK as a case-study, nationally and locally. It then explores the potential for adaptation at these different scales. Finally it covers the economic implications of such impacts and adaptation strategies, drawing on the Stern Review, and the ethical implications of human induced climate change and national responsibility for mitigation of a global problem. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- High-level understanding of projected climate change impacts and adaptation at global, national and local scales, with a focus on business and industry
- Familiarity with climate prediction models, feedback processes and uncertainties
- Ability to evaluate economic implications of climate change impacts and adaptation
- Critical assessment of ethics of human-induced climate change, its impacts and national responsibilities for mitigation and adaptation

Assessment Information
- Group presentation of specific and relevant topic using Problem Based Learning methodology. Assessed by minimum of 2 course lecturers. (20%)
- Essay assignment (20%)
- Final Exam (60%) (6 compulsory short answer questions (5% each) and 1 essay (choice 1 out of 3 30% of mark) in 2 hours exam.
