This course aims to develop independence in the skills of experimental design and project management, develop oral reporting skills, and to encourage high quality technical presentation and non-technical written summaries.
Project work is your main chance to work on your own topic of interest and to show your own initiative and experimental skills.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course it is intended that a student will be able to:
1)carry out a literature search in a defined area of research, and write a report summarising the work previously undertaken in that area
2)devise and present a plan and timetable for a substantial practical project in a defined area of musical acoustics
3)undertake a substantial practical project in musical acoustics, keeping an accurate and detailed record of the work carried out and reporting orally at regular intervals to the project supervisor
4)write up a substantial practical project as a scientific report, including where appropriate graphs with error bars and estimates of uncertainty
5)prepare and present a poster describing a piece of experimental work |
