Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course learners who performed successfully will be able to communicate at an elementary level (A1) in the target language in situations of daily routine. The acquisition of a basic language competence and a vocabulary of 600/700 words should be expected to allow the oral and written production of simple phrases, and to understand short passages where the context is clear and identified.
METHODOLOGY
An approach based on a contrastive analysis between Italian and English structures will help students to understand elementary grammar points, and gradually build up their confidence in the new language.

On successful completion of the course students will have to option of taking Intermediate Italian Language ELCI07004 (20 credits) in Semester 2, which follows on from Introductory Italian Language.
