Course description | A course for beginners with no previous knowledge of the language, designed to introduce the Italian Language to non specialist students.
NOTE: This is the same course, repeated in semester 2, as Introductory Italian Language ELCI07001, therefore students can register for either course but not for both. Instead, students who have completed Introductory Italian Language ELCI07001 have the option of registering for Intermediate Italian Language ELCI07004 in semester 2. |

GROUP A: Tuesday & Thursday 2pm - 4pm
OR
GROUP B: Monday & Thursday 4pm - 6pm
OR
Group C: Monday & Wednesday 2pm - 4pm

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
A course designed to give beginners a grasp of the language at an elementary level. Students will progressively develop basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and acquire a basic range of linguistic structures as well as vocabulary of approximately 600 words. |
Assessment Information
Coursework
Two assessments will be held on Thursday in weeks 6 and 9. Homework, oral proficiency and class contribution will be accounted as well. The weighting for coursework (counting for the 50% of the final mark) is as follow:
Assessment 1: Written test = 15%
Assessment 2 : Listening Comprehension test = 20%
Homework and class contribution = 15%
Degree exam = 50%
All students have to sit a 2 hour written exam. The final pass mark is 40%. |
Special Arrangements
This course is open to all students. DELC students may only take this course if it is over and above their full credit load, as in a non credit bearing course. |
