Course description | The aim of this course is to introduce students to Book History as a concept and to provide a general overview of the key developments in the field, tracing the movement from scribal culture to hand printing, from industrialisation to new technologies. Seminars (which will run for 2 hours a week) will be taught by experts from the University and beyond, and will draw on a wide range of material from the University?s Special Collections. Assessment will be based on a course essay of 4000 words, selected from a range of prescribed topics, to be submitted by the end of Semester 1. |
