Course descriptionThis course covers a range of advanced, mainly multivariate, methods used in data analysis and includes a series of exercises to allow the development of SPSS skills. The examination consists of a set of compulsory short questions. These questions will focus in part on writing short notes on key topics and in part on commenting on outputs from data analyses.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Psychology 2 (PSYL08002)

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should have at least 3 Psychology courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) and a basic background in statistics. We will only consider University/College level courses.

- Understanding of the theory underlying the statistical techniques covered in the course.

- Ability to perform SPSS analyses on data using the statistical techniques covered in the course.

- Ability to choose appropriate analyses for different types of datasets.

- Understanding and use of stastistical power
Assessment Information
Three written practical assignments and degree exam. The componets of the course are weighted as follows:

Exam = 77%
Practical assignments (coursework) = 23%
