Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. The Course aims to introduce the concepts of value & risk management, apply them to strategic and tactical problems and illustrate their tools and techniques through case study.
2. A practical understanding of the value and risk management
of the strategic and tactical development of a construction
project.
· Gain a practical appreciation of value & risk management
techniques used at the technical development stage of the
design
· Understanding of the practice of value management with the
UK practice of cost management.
· Understand the development of a PPP brief, including a
practical appreciation of value & risk management
techniques used at this stage.
· Investigating contemporary approaches to VRM in the context of
construction projects
· Understanding of research literature in the field of value
management and risk management
· Be able to analyse a clients requirements and articulate them in
clear unambiguous terms
· Develop capacity for creative and lateral thinking through VRM
study approaches
· Develop an understanding of group dynamics, chairmanship and
facilitation
3. Develop an understanding of group dynamics, chairmanship and facilitation
· Develop competence in report writing through scenario based assignment
· Ability to form professional judgements regarding value improvement and risk mitigation proposals for project scenarios
