Course descriptionIndicative course content
This course introduces students to a broad range of basic research methods in relation to practical studio work, enabling them to extend their understanding of art practice.

Aims of course
1 To introduce students to key theories, practices, contexts and debates in Art.
2 To encourage the creative and critical development of personal practice.
3 To encourage curiosity and foster critical enquiry.

Pre-requisites Co-requisites Students MUST also take:
Students MUST also take: Art 1: Visual Culture (ARTX07006) AND Professional Practice 1 (Art) (ARTX07005) AND Studio 1 (Art) (ARTX07003)

1. INVESTIGATE: Show an ability to collect and collate images, objects and texts which demonstrate an investigation of research themes.
2. CONSIDER: Demonstrate a range of approaches to art research.
3. SELECT: Demonstrate the ability to select research themes and begin to develop a personal direction.
