Course descriptionThe objectives of the course are:
? to familiarize students with the general content and principles of the law relating to business transactions and business organisations
? to enable them to identify and resolve at a basic level legal issues arising in such transactions and organisations
? to enable them to understand and use in both speech and writing legal concepts and principles

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and Understanding:
Students should be familiar with and able to deploy at a basic level the content, principles and concepts of the law relating to business transactions, in particular to identify correctly the legal issues arising in such transactions.

Cognitive Skills:
? demonstrate that they can move beyond simple description of the content of the law to analysis and evaluation of problem situations using key concepts learnt during the course;
? demonstrate their ability to research, analyse and draw legally valid conclusions about problem situations deploying the material from the course.

Key Skills:
? engage in legally informed analysis of fact situations arising commonly in business transactions and organisations;
? identify and utilise relevant information from library and other sources (e.g. Internet);
? study independently and take responsibility for identifying and analysing related reference material for the course.
Assessment Information
By five essays, best four will count equally towards the final mark.
