| Course description | The second of the three DPsychotherapy Professional Portfolio courses builds on the first course, incorporating a further 100 hours of therapeutic practice and 20 hours of supervision. Alongside this professional practice, students attend practice and process groups in which they deliver detailed presentations of their psychotherapy and counselling work with individual clients, using a variety of presentation methods. They receive focused, constructive feedback from their peers and tutors on their therapeutic practice, in addition to supervision and guidance from their clinical supervisor. The second professional portfolio, through which this course and the DPsychotherapy Placement 2 are assessed, is completed when these placement hours have been attained. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. By the end of the course students should have:-
- the capacity to make a critical analysis of their strengths, skills, learning and support needs in relation to their ability to maintain and develop effective therapeutic relationships with clients, including clients with psychological vulnerabilities.
2. - a critical awareness of their developing specialist practice interests within psychotherapy practice.
3. - the ability to accept and integrate feedback, assessment and guidance regarding their therapeutic practice from tutors, peers and clinical supervisors, and to develop their practice in the light of such feedback, assessment and guidance
4. - the capacity to analyse and respond creatively to ethical and other challenges encountered in practice placement
5. - the capacity to undertake a critical evaluation of the impact of difference, diversity and power in psychotherapy and counselling practice, demonstrating their ability to counter discrimination and to act to empower clients
- the capacity to present and analyse the processes and effectiveness of therapeutic relationships with reference to their own practice with individual clients, based on the theoretical concepts and research findings which inform their practice |
