Course description This post-introductory course is intended for students who have successfully completed Introductory Catalan (ELCH07005) or have reached an equivalent standard (Standard Grade/GCSE). It is not suitable for absolute beginners or students with knowledge of Catalan at Highers/AS-level or above.
All students take all elements of assessment, including the examination.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Basic knowledge of Catalan in a wide variety of situations with the aim to develop confidence in language learning, understanding and responding to others in appropriate situations.

Students will further develop basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, with a small cultural component. They will acquire knowledge of basic grammatical structures and expand their vocabulary of high-frequency words and phrases.
Assessment Information
Coursework 50% (a listening, writing, and oral test)
Degree exam 50% (A two-hour written paper)
All students take all elements of assessment including the examination.
