Course descriptionThis post-elementary course is normally intended for students who have successfully completed Introductory Italian or have reached an equivalent standard (Standard Grade/GCSE). It is not suitable for absolute beginners or students with knowledge of Italian at Highers/AS-level or above.

All students take all elements of assessment, including the examination.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed Introductory Italian Language (ELCI07001) OR Introductory Italian Language (ELCI07002)
Co-requisites
Prohibited Combinations Students MUST NOT also be taking Intermediate Italian Language (ELCI07003)
Other requirements If not taken Introductory Italian: Italian at Standard Grade (SCE)/GCSE or equivalent evidence of proficiency.

Class Delivery Information IMPORTANT: Students must attend pairs of classes choosing ONE of:

GROUP A: Monday & Wednesday, 14:10-16:00
OR
GROUP B: Monday & Wednesday, 16:10-18:00
OR
GROUP C: Wednesday and Friday, 11:10-13:00

Please note: this course will not appear on students' personalised timetable. Group Sign-up sheets will be available on LEARN after the first class meeting. Groups have a limited quota, if a group reaches capacity, you will need to choose another.

The first class meeting will be Wednesday 15th January at 13:10 in S.1, 7 George Square.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
A course designed to develop students' grasp of the language at a post-elementary to intermediate level (A2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)).
Assessment Information
Class work 50% (2 assessments).
Degree exam 50% (a two-hour written examination)

All students take all elements of assessment, including the examination.
Special Arrangements
This course is open to all students as a credit bearing course, or over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course. DELC students may only take this course if it over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course.
