Course descriptionThis course focuses on the history of Italian women since the birth of the new Italian state in 1860. Starting with the Civil Code of 1865 it covers a range of political, social and economic themes. Topics include ideology about gender roles, family law and legal reform, gender roles within families and the household, demographic change and sexuality, motherhood, employment and female roles in political movements and parties.

By the end of this course students will be expected to show the ability:
