Course description | Persian 4 is an advanced course in Persian language. The aim of this course is to enable students to have mastery of all aspects of higher Persian grammar, as well as to develop further reading, writing and listening skills. It is aimed to further develop students¿ command of the Persian Language through a wide range of materials, that is, by study of classical and modern Persian texts, both prose and poetry, with use of films and other media as well. This course consists of work in translating English texts into Persian, and vice versa, and practicing aural skills at advanced level. The course is open to fourth year Persian Honours students only. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course students will have gained an advanced knowledge of the four language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in Persian. Students will be able understand and analyse written and aural materials of various types. They will be able to produce written Persian in summary form or more extensively and to appreciate Modern Persian as a form of communication and a form of literature and Classical Persian as a form of literature. |
Assessment Information
One three-hour examination paper (80%).
One listening comprehension examination (20%). |
