| Course description | This course aims to promote an understanding of the control of infectious animal diseases of economic global importance and the impact of legislation on the design of these control strategies. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| At the completion of this course, the candidate should understand the major transboundary livestock diseases, including rinderpest and other epidemic diseases (foot-and-mouth disease, Rift Valley fever, African Swine fever and Avian influenza). Candidates will also be introduced to the regulatory requirements for international trade, as stipulated by OIE and WTO, and the control strategies recommended to keep these diseases at bay. |
Assessment Information
| Formal summative written assessment will constitute 60% of the student's grade. Online discussion in both a synchronous and asynchronous environment will contribute further to the final mark. In combination with the submission of electronic course assignments, these elements will provide the remaining 40% of the final mark. |
