Course descriptionThis course will provide students with the opportunity to explore a topic in depth with associated research and literature. The topic will be relevant to their workplace and professional development and will cover an area not substantially included in their core and option courses within the programme. The topic will be selected in agreement with a tutor who will supervise the student's progress and select the essay question.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of a substantial body of literature and research on a topic relevant to the MSc programme and their local context
2. Reflect critically on the empirical and theoretical content related to their chosen topic
3. Demonstrate an understanding and critical evaluation of the topic
4. Demonstrate the ability to source literature
5. Synthesise the available literature to develop new arguments
