Course descriptionThis optional course looks to provide students at Masters level with the opportunities to consider the current debates and developments in the field of pain as both an experience and, in terms of its management, a priority in health care. Content addresses the most recent physiological and psychological knowledge and research addressing the causes, consequences and relief of pain in all its forms.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Nursing 1 (NUST08001) AND Nursing 2 (NUST08006) AND Health and Society 1A (NUST08002) AND Health and Society 1B (NUST08003) AND Health and Society 2A (NUST08004) AND Health and Society 2B (NUST08005)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The learner will have engaged critically with the current knowledge and research addressing the concept of pain, explored its relevance to the optimal care and nursing practice which looks to relieve or ameliorate the experience of pain.
The student will have established skills in conducting a literature review
