Course descriptionThis course builds on the previous courses on professionalism, and is an examination of the management of health care through the mechanisms of clinical governance, professional regulation and quality and safety standards. The course addresses, in greater depth, professions working in teams within complex organisations with emphasis on the importance of the leadership role in achieving high quality care in a variety of organisational settings.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Theoretical: On completion of the course students will:
* Have an understanding of the complexities of leading teams when delivering high quality health care
* Understand the importance of clinical governance in providing high quality care
* Know about different approaches to leadership in providing high quality care

Practice:
* Demonstrate a critical understanding of the complexities involved in delivering health care
* Implement clinical governance in providing high quality care
* Demonstrate elements of leadership in providing high quality care in the final practice learning placement
Assessment Information
Course paper confined to within 2500-3000 words. (50%)
