Course descriptionThe course traces the development of the most powerful lordship in the Scottish west from the lifetime of John of Islay (c.1320-c.1390) to the forfeiture of the last lord of the Isles in 1493.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The principal objective of the course is to provide students with specialist knowledge and understanding of the development of the Lordship of the Isles. Students will emerge from the course having developed a sufficient degree of expertise in the subject to undertake a Masters dissertation.
Assessment Information
An essay of 2000-3000 words on an approved topic, counting as 100% of the final course mark.
