Course descriptionThe centrality of psychotherapy models in Western cultures has led to:
the consideration of the place of psychotherapy as an agent of social change; the scientific status of psychotherapies across the life-span and the challenges to the role of the therapeutic relationship with the development of computerized CBT approaches. These issues will be considered along side emerging therapeutic paradigms.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Psychology Methodology 1 (PSYL10034) AND Psychology Methodology 2 (PSYL10035)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Students will have gained an understanding of the main types of psychotherapy models in use in the UK (Cognitive, Behavioural, Interpersonal and Psychodynamic)

- Students will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the efficacy of a range of psychological treatment models for emotional disorders.

- Students will be introduced to recent developments in psychotherapy (older adults, schizophrenia)
